The Role : Project Lead
The Project Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of data, analytics, or AI solutions to non-profit organizations through Data for Good (DFG) partnerships. This role bridges the gap between non-profit stakeholder needs and technical delivery, managing the full lifecycle of a project—from intake and scoping to final delivery and client training.
The Project Lead takes over once a project has been identified and initially scoped by the DFG Non-Profit Partnership Lead and is responsible for driving the project to completion with a high degree of quality, collaboration, and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
- Understand non-profit stakeholder goals, pain points, and priorities.
- Translate these needs into actionable data, analytics, or AI project requirements.
- Manage stakeholder expectations, scope definition, communications, and engagement
throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead all key client meetings: project kickoff, iterative feedback sessions, and final
solution delivery, including training and documentation.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as the project team lead, fostering a positive and productive team environment.
- Provide mentorship, feedback, and support to volunteer team members.
- Handle team resourcing and recruitment in collaboration with DFG leadership.
- Act as the primary escalation point for team blockers, challenges, and concerns.
Project Management
- Own the end-to-end project timeline, ensuring tasks are progressing and milestones are
met. - Lead sprint planning and standups using agile practices (scrum familiarity is an asset).
- Regularly report project status to DFG leadership and raise risks or needs proactively.
- Help shape best practices, internal process documentation, and scalable delivery
frameworks for both small and large projects.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in data, analytics, or AI roles, with a strong understanding of project delivery life cycles.
- Proven track record leading cross-functional data or analytics teams and deliveringsuccessful client-facing solutions.
- Experience in stakeholder management, agile methodologies, and iterative delivery
practices. - Strong communication and facilitation skills, especially with non-technical audiences.
- Experience with volunteer or pro bono project teams is a plus.
- MBA or Scrum Master certification is an asset.
